Dear Celesty Fans
We are sorry to announce that Celesty will go to indefinite hiatus. During the time, when 5th album songs have been in progress, there has been mixed feelings in the air for a longer period of time now. Situation in the band has come to the point, where only solution is to take a break. Will that break be a year or ten, we don´t know, but this is the only way to take the time that we need.
This decision is mutual by all members of the band.

2011-03-29: CELESTY heading towards fifth longplayer

Hailing from Finland, the power metal quintet CELESTY is proud to announce the anticipated fifth, yet untitled album is on its way.
"Our plan is to pre-produce the whole album during the spring so we'll be ready to enter the studio and start to think about the release schedule" explains drummer Jere Luokkamäki.

CELESTY's fourth album, Vendetta, was released by Spinefarm Records in March 2009. The release was highly praised by both the media and the fans. With Vendetta Celesty was able to have a breakthrough in the UK, where the band also toured in October 2010 as a part of 'Boneshakers 2010' tour.
"We did a lot of work in 2010. There was a healthy amount of gigs, and despite of some change of band members, we did extremely well. After the tour we decided to have some vacation from the band activities before starting to work on the new material. At least that was the plan, but we couldn't separate ourselves from the music and still ended up composing new songs" Luokkamäki laughs.

Along with the composing, the band has also been actively rehearsing. "We actually just got a new, bigger rehearsing space where we've been demoing the new songs. And we've already became veeery familiar with our rehearsing room."

Seinäjoen ylpeys Celesty on aloittanut viidennen, vielä toistaiseksi nimeämättömän albuminsa työstämisen.
”Tarkoituksena on, että kevään aikana saataisiin levyllinen materiaalia demotettua sellaiseen muotoon, että voisimme sen jälkeen ryhtyä pohtimaan studioon menoa ja albumin julkaisuajankohtaa”, rumpali Jere Luokkamäki muotoilee.

Celestyn neljäs pitkäsoitto, Vendetta, julkaistiin Spinefarmin toimesta maalikuussa 2009. Kriitikoiden ja fanien arvostama Vendetta avitti yhtyeen läpimurrossa etenkin Englannissa, jossa Celesty kävikin minikiertueella loppuvuodesta 2010.
”Teimme viime vuonna paljon töitä. Keikkoja oli mukavasti ja jäsenvaihdoksista huolimatta suoriuduttiin kaikesta hyvin. Mahtavasti sujuneen Englanninkiertueen jälkeen päätimme pitää pienen hengähdystauon ennen uuden levyn työstämiseen ryhtymistä.” Mutta mihinkäs muusikko raidoistaan pääsee: ”Toki sävelsimme kukin tahollamme uusia kappaleita, eli se siitä tauosta”, Luokkamäki naurahtaa.

Sävellystyön ohella yhtye on myös treenannut aktiivisesti. ”Vaihdoimme suurempaan treenikämppään, jossa on koko bändin voimin käyty demottomassa uusia biisejä. Uusi treenikämppä on todellakin tullut jo todella tutuksi.”

2010-08-03: Celesty is parting ways with guitarist Tapani Kangas

Finnish Spinefarm-signed power metal extravaganza Celesty is parting ways with guitarist Tapani Kangas. There's no friction or drama behind the scenes, the decision was deliberate and mutual.
Celesty is not looking for a replacement and continues as a five-piece. During the forthcoming live shows the rhythm guitar will be handled by Tuomas Laasanen. Celesty would like to thank Tapani for the past twelve years and wishes him successful career!

"12 awesome years, 4 albums, people, fans, shows and great memories. Unfortunately after a long concideration i have decided to separate ways with Celesty. I cant give the full concentration that the band deserves because of my personal schedules with work/music. Celesty and guys will always be in my heart, and these memories, years and friendship for life will never be taken away from me! Thank you and STAY METAL! ~Tapani~"

Celestyn ja kitaristi Tapani Kankaan tiet eroavat. Tilanteeseen ei liity minkäänlaista draamaa tai erimielisyyttä. Päätös tehtiin hyvässä yhteisymmärryksessä ja asioita punniten.
Tilalle yhtye ei etsi uutta kitaristia vaan jatkaa viisimiehisenä. Tulevilla keikoilla toisen kitaran hoitaa Tuomas Laasanen. Celesty kiittää Tapania menneistä 12 vuodesta ja toivottaa menestykästä uraa!

"12 upeaa vuotta, 4 levyä, ihmisiä, faneja, keikkoja ja kokemuksia. Valitettavasti katson pitkällisen harkinnan jälkeen parhaaksi nyt jättää Celestyn taakseni, en pysty antamaan enää yhtyeen ansaitsemaa täyttä panostani muiden työ/musiikki kiireideni takia. 2010-05-26: Celesty U.K. Tour

KIUAS, METSATÖLL, CELESTY Team Up For SPINEFARM's 'Boneshakers 2010' U.K. Tour

For the first time in the company's history, three acts signed to the Spinefarm label will embark on a series of U.K. shows in tandem, flying the flag for epic heavy metal (Finnish five-piece KIUAS), authentic folk metal (Estonian quartet METSATÖLL) and dramatic power metal (Finnish sextet CELESTY).

KIUAS, which has played in the U.K. on a number of occasions, including an appearance at the Bloodstock Open Air festival plus a full run of dates with FIREWIND, will headline all of the shows, with METSATÖLL providing the meat in the middle, and CELESTY (which has also featured on the Bloodstock bill) opening the bill.

KIUAS recently released its latest album, "Lustdriven", supported by the single/video "Of Love, Lust & Human Nature", following hard on the heels of "Aio" – METSATÖLL's first release for the Spinefarm label.

CELESTY's latest offering, "Vendetta", came out in 2009, and saw the six heading deep into symphonic/progressive rock territory, with tracks such as "Lord (Of This Kingdom)", "Like Warriors" and first video "Fading Away" showing that musical ambition doesn't have to lead to any loss of power. Latest news from the camp is that the band now have a new frontman, with previous singer Antti Railio having recently been replaced by Tony Turunen — brother of former NIGHTWISH frontwoman, Tarja.

2010-03-12: Aleksanterin teatterin 130v juhlakonsertti

Celesty esittää maaliskuun 30. ja 31. päivän ”Faustinen ilta” -juhlakonserteissa 14-minuuttisen Legacy of Hate part III -eepoksensa ensimmäistä kertaa koskaan – ja ensiesitys tapahtuu järeästi sinfoniaorkesterin sekä kuoron kanssa mm. Suomen valtion johdosta koostuvalle kutsuvierasyleisölle.

Legacy of Hate part III löytyy Celestyn uusimmalta, vuosi sitten julkaistulta, Vendetta-albumilta. Vahvasti sinfoniaorkesteriin pohjautuvaa kappaletta ei ole koskaan aiemmin soitettu livenä.
”Faustinen ilta” on samalla yhtyeen uuden laulajan ensiesiintyminen. Siskonsa tavoin upeaääninen Tony Turunen valittiin kymmenien laulajien joukosta Celestyn uudeksi keulakuvaksi.
”On todella hienoa päästä tällaiseen tapahtumaan mukaan – ja vielä ensimmäisenä metallibändinä Suomessa!” rumpali, säveltäjä Jere Luokkamäki summaa yhtyeen tunteet. ”Syksyllä oli lukuisia vastoinkäymisiä, jotka kulminoituivat laulajan lähtöön yhtyeestä. Mutta nyt olemme päässeet vaikeuksien kautta voittoon, pääsemme esittelemään Suomen päättäjille unohtumattoman, uniikin musiikkikokemuksen.”

”Faustinen ilta” -juhlakonsertin on ohjannut television Talent-ohjelman tuomari Sami Saikkonen, juhlaorkesterin kapellimestarina toimii Sibelius-Akatemian oopperakoulutuksen professori Markus Lehtinen, ja juhlakuoron johtajana mm. Suomen kansallisoopperasta tuttu Kalevi Olli.

2010-02-20: TONY TURUNEN Announced As New Vocalist

The Finnish power metal sextet CELESTY has a new lead vocalist, Tony Turunen.

"This feels awesome!" Tony admits. "This is a new and interesting challenge for me. I'm eagerly waiting to see what the future holds for me and the band."

Dozens of singers applied for the position, but in the end the decision was easy and unambiguous. "He's not only a great singer, but also a talented lead vocalist with a very powerful stage presence. Plus he's a great guy!" summarizes drummer and composer Jere Luokkamäki.

CELESTY's search for a new vocalist began in December. Even if the band was sure who they wanted, the new vocalist had to wait for the confirmation until February.

"A good friend of mine mentioned that Celesty was looking for a new lead vocalist. Since I had listened a lot to their latest album Vendetta, I decided to apply for the position." Tony explains. "Of course I hoped they'd choose me, but I was still surprised when the band invited me to meet them in a studio. Eventually I recorded vocals for three songs in January. After some time, which actually felt reeeaaally long, the band welcomed me to be their new singer."

"I feel positive about the future, and I already have lots of ideas for the band. I will do my best and be creative, both in the studio and during live shows. My expectations for the band are extremely high!" says Tony, whose first live show with CELESTY will be in March.

Seinäjokelaisen voimametalliyhtye Celestyn uusi laulaja on vantaalainen Tony Turunen.

"Fiilis on aivan mahtava!", kertoo tuore laulajavalinta. "Koen tehtävän hyvällä tavalla haasteellisena ja mielenkiintoisena. Odotan yhtyeen tulevaisuudelta paljon, kaikella saralla."

Uudeksi laulajaksi pyrki kymmeniä ehdokkaita. Yhtyeen mukaan valinta oli kuitenkin helppo ja yksimielinen. "Tony ei ole ainoastaan kova laulaja, vaan myös hyvä tyyppi ja rehellisesti kiinnostunut bändistä.", rumpali Jere Luokkamäki summaa.

Yksimielisestä päätöksestä huolimatta joulukuussa alkanut laulajan haku ja koeajo jännitti helmikuussa pestin saanutta Tonya loppuun saakka.

"Ystäväni mainitsi loppuvuodesta Celestyn hakevan laulajaa. Etenkin uusin levy Vendetta oli pyörinyt levylautasellani reilusti, joten otin bändiin yhteyttä.", taustoittaa Tony. "Toivoin tietysti hakemukseni päätyvän muuallekin kuin vain paperisilppuriin. Yllätyksekseni sain pian kutsun studioon, jossa äänitimme demolaulut kolmeen biisiin. Melko pitkältä tuntuvan ajanjakson jälkeen sain tiedon, että olen tullut valituksi Celestyn uudeksi vokalistiksi.", mies paljastaa.

"Tunnelmat ovat todella positiiviset ja ideoita bändiin liittyen ropisee jatkuvasti. Pyrin kaivamaan itsestäni kaiken luovuuden bändin aikaisempiin ja tuleviin biiseihin, sekä livenä että studiossa. Odotukset ovat erittäin korkealla!", kertoo maaliskuussa ensiesiintymisensä yhtyeen riveissä tekevä Tony.

The remaining members of Celesty would like to take this moment to wish Antti success in his vocal career but they are ready to take the next step for the future of the band.

Celestyn neljäs pitkäsoitto Vendetta on yltänyt Suomen virallisen albumilistan sijalle 30! Kyseessä on yhtyeen historian ensimmäinen listasijoitus.

"Yksi Celestyn unelmista on nyt saavutettu!", ylpeilee rumpali Jere Luokkamäki. "Aiemmin toivoimme, että meillä olisi mahdollisuus näyttävän musiikkivideon tekemiseen, ja kiitos levy-yhtiömme, saimme tämän toiveen täytettyä. 2009-03-16: Fading Away video now online!

Symphonic power metallers CELESTY have released their first official music video "Fading Away", from the forthcoming album "Vendetta".

Drummer Jere Luokkamäki comments: "It required some Sisu to shoot the video for full twelve hours in sub-zero Finnish winter. But in the end it was definitely worth all the freezing - the video came out even cooler (heh) than I thought!"

The video was shot in an isolated quarry 100 miles from Seinäjoki, the hometown of the band. Director Markus Nieminen from Routafilmi is known of his work with dozens of music videos, as well as a number of short films and feature movies.

"Vendetta" will be released in Finland this Wednesday, March 18th, in Japan on March 25th and elsewhere in the globe during May. The official record releasing shows will be held at On The Rocks, Helsinki, on March 18th. Sputnik, Tampere on March 19th and Rytmikorjaamo, Seinäjoki on March 20th.

Seinäjoen power metal -ylpeys CELESTY ylpeänä esittää: Yhtyeen historian ensimmäinen musiikkivideo "Fading Away".

Rumputaiteilija Jere Luokkamäki kommentoi: "Videon kuvaaminen pakkassäässä vaati perkeleellisesti sisua! Ulkokuvaukset kestivät yhteen menoon 12 tuntia. Lopputuloksesta näkee, että pakkasherran uhmaaminen kannatti - video on jopa upeampi mitä uskalsin odottaa!"

Fading Away -video kuvattiin louhoksella 160 kilometrin päässä yhtyeen kotikaupungista Seinäjoesta. Viden ohjannut Markus Nieminen (Routafilmi) on aiemmin työskennellyt kymmenien musiikkivideoiden, lukuisten lyhytelokuvien ja muutamien täyspitkien elokuvien parissa.

Celestyn neljäs albumi "Vendetta" julkaistaan Suomessa keskiviikkona 18. maaliskuuta, Japanissa 25. maaliskuuta ja muualla maailmassa toukokuussa. Viralliset levynjulkistamiskeikat pidetään keskiviikkona 18.3. Helsingin On The Rocksissa, 19.3. Tampereen Sputnikissa ja perjantaina 20.3. Seinäjoen Rytmikorjaamolla. Maalis-huhtikuun aikana CELESTY kiertää aktiivisesti myös muualla Suomessa.

2009-03-02: First Celesty Musicvideo!!

Celesty kuvasi viime viikonloppuna videon biisiinsä "Fading Away". Videon ohjasi Routafilmin Markus Nieminen ja se kuvattiin Ylöjärven maisemissa. Videokuvausten lisäksi viikonloppu oli kiireinen erityisesti bändin solistille Antti Railiolle, joka oli mukana Kuorosodassa, Timo Kotipellon voitokkaassa kuorossa! Railio sai kunniatehtävän vetää finaalissa soolot kappaleissa "I Want It All" ja "You Shook Me All Night Long"!

Celesty filmed their first official music video for the song ”Fading Away” last weekend. Video was directed Markus Nieminen from Routafilmi and it was filmed in the scenery of Ylöjärvi. In addition of video filming the weekend was especially busy to Antti Railio who participated “Kuorosota”, the Finnish edition of the BBC smash hot format talent show “Choir Wars”. Timo Kotipelto conducted the victorious Choir! Railio had honour to sing the leads in the songs “Queen: I want it all” and “AC/DC: You shook me all night long”!

New album “Vendetta” will be released 18th of March in Finland, 20th of March in Japan and in the rest of the World during the May 2009. - There is a new song “Autumn Leaves” on Celesty’s MySpace site.

2009-01-25: Antti Kuorosotimassa!

Celestyn vokalisti Antti Railio nähdään Timo Kotipellon kuorossa Nelosen Kuorosota-ohjelmassa.
Antti liittyi joukkoon Timon pyynnöstä kun selvisi, ettei yksi kuoroon valituista laulajista pystynyt olemaan mukana ohjelmassa sen kiireisen aikataulun vuoksi.
Tietysti Pohjanmaalla kaveria autetaan.

CELESTY will release their fourth full-length album on 11th of March 2009 through the Finnish Spinefarm Records. The album bears the name VENDETTA, and Samu Oittinen began the mixing of the album in the beginning of December. It is a daunting task: At times there are over 300 tracks playing. The epic soundscape is reinforced by an orchestra compiled of the musicians of the Tampere City Orchestra, and a professional choir. The orchestration and the choir parts were arranged and produced by the conductor Kalevi Olli, renowned for instance for his work with the Finnish National Opera.

"We started working with Kalevi last spring. After various setbacks we were indeed able to include on Vendetta everything that we had dreamed of for the entire ten-year career of Celesty: a real orchestra and a choir! A lot of blood, sweat and tears have been shed and the band has suffered through some of the most critical times of it's career, but now finally we can breath freely. It has been almost three months since we wrapped up the recordings, and now that the mixing has finally started we can with pride reveal that Celesty is making Finnish recording history: Over 300 tracks makes Vendetta one of the most massive albums recorded entirely in Finland." says Jere Luokkamäki, the drummer of the band.

Celesty's fourth full-lenght album will be released on 11th of March 2009, at which time Celesty will also begin their extensive Finnish tour.

2008-12-23: Celesty: Vendetta

CELESTY julkaisee neljännen pitkäsoittonsa 11.03.2009 Suomalaisen Spinefarm Recordsin kautta. Albumi kantaa nimeä VENDETTA ja Samu Oittinen aloitti levyn miksaamisen joulukuun alussa. Urakka on valtava: Raitoja levyllä soi parhaimmillaan yli 300! Mahtipontista äänimaisemaa täydentävät mm. Tampereen kaupunginorkesterin muusikoista koottu orkesteri sekä ammattilaiskuoro. Levyn orkesteri- ja kuoro-osuudet on sovittanut ja tuottanut kapellimestari, Suomen kansallisoopperastakin tuttu Kalevi Olli.

”Aloitimme yhteistyön Kalevin kanssa viime keväänä. Erinäisten vastoinkäymisten jälkeen saimme kuin saimmekin Vendetta-levylle mukaan kaiken sen, mitä olemme koko Celestyn kymmenvuotisen uran aikana haaveilleet, orkesterin ja kuoron! Paljon on vuodatettu verta, hikeä ja kyyneleitä. Bändi kävi läpi historiansa kriittisimmät ajat, mutta nyt voidaan vihdoin huokaista helpotuksesta. Äänitysten loppumisesta on kulunut jo melkein kolme kuukautta. Nyt kun miksaus on viimein alkanut, voimme ylpeänä paljastaa, että Celesty on tekemässä suomalaista äänitehistoriaa: yli 300 raitaa tekee Vendetta albumista yhden Suomen äänityshistorian massiivisimmista kokonaan suomessa tehdyistä albumeista.” kertoo yhtyeen rumpali Jere Luokkamäki

Celestyn neljäs pitkäsoitto julkaistaan 11.03.2009. Samalla yhtye aloittaa kattavan Suomen-kiertueen.

2008-09-25: Facts of Celesty's 4th album

CELESTY has finished the recordings of their fourth studio album. The mixing of the album will begin in November/December after the renovation of the studio is finished. Meanwhile the band is furiously rehearsing the new material for their upcoming live shows.
”The recordings were completed without any major problems and we’re happy to announce the new album will sound extremely massive and bombastic! The mixing process will be a serious challenge for Samu Oittinen of Fantom Studio since the songs have so many tracks – in fact, we’re getting close to the Finnish record of amount of tracks on an album!”, says Jere Luokkamäki, the drummer of Celesty.
The new album will feature eleven tracks and about sixty minutes of music.

The longplayer will also feature guest musicians such as Stephan Lill (Vanden Plas) and Elias Viljanen (Sonata Arctica). Furthermore, one will encounter familiar backing vocalists plus Suvi-Tuuli Dietrich (Escape), the lady with a magical voice, is contributing female vocals.
The cover art is almost finished and the name of the album will be revealed later. The new website is currently under construction and it will be opened before the end of this year. ”This is without doubt our best album! We’re eagerly waiting to get it released, and after the release we’re touring Finland the whole spring.”, explains Luokkamäki. Some of the shows have already been confirmed and the complete set of tourdates will follow on Celesty’s website in the near future.

2008-09-25: Celesty viimeistelee neljättä albumiaan

CELESTY on saanut neljännen studioalbuminsa äänitykset päätökseen. Miksaus alkaa marras-joulukuussa studion remontin takia. Tällä välin yhtye suuntaa kohti treenikämppää, jossa uudet kappaleet työstetään timanttiseen live-kuntoon.
”Äänitykset sujuivat ilman suurempia ongelmia ja luvassa on todella mahtipontinen levy. Fantom Studion Samu Oittisella tulee olemaan kova urakka levyn miksaamisen kanssa, sillä raitamäärä hipoo Suomen ennätystä!”, kertoo rumpali Jere Luokkamäki.
Tulevalla albumilla on 11 kappaletta ja kestoa noin 60 minuuttia.

Kansitaidekin on viimeistelyä vaille valmis ja levyn nimi on jo päätetty. Uudet www-sivut ovat tekeillä parhaillaan ja mitä todennäköisemmin uusi verkkosivusto avataan vielä tämän vuoden aikana. ”Luvassa on Celestyn historian ehdottomasti paras levy, jonka julkaisua yhtye itsekin odottaa erittäin kuumeisesti. Levyn julkaisun jälkeen aloitamme aktiivisen keikkailun ja kierrämme Suomea koko kevään ajan.”, Luokkamäki kertoo. Osa keikoista on jo lyöty lukkoon, mutta lisää keikkoja ilmoitetaan yhtyeen www-sivuilla kun asiat varmistuvat.

2008-06-30: Celesty prepares for studio!!!

It’s only two weeks and then starts Celesty’s 4th album recordings and this time with Samu Oittinen in Fantom Studio. It’s third time when we do the album with Samu and whole band is very exited to work again with him. We have done lots of work during this year with our new songs and it’s going to be most challenging album in Celesty’s history ever.

Upcoming album will be wider than ever before including the booklet. All the main characters will be introduced with pictures and there also will be an updated map of “The Land Of The Cryon”, so album contains more visual theme than earlier. ToxicAngel will design the album cover. Because of the cover idea and Toxic’s style I’m sure it’s going to be an elegant cover!

Tässä olisi niinku kaksi viikkoa ennen kuin alkaa neljännen albumin vääntö, ja tällä kertaa Samu Oittisen kanssa Fantom Studiolla. Se on muuten kolmas kerta kun tehdään Samun kanssa levy – miten se sanonta nyt menikään? Viimeisen puolen vuoden aikana ollaan kymmentä levylle tulevaa rallia hiottu niin pirusti, että tulossa on satavarmasti Celesty-historian haastavin levy.

Levykokonaisuus tulee olemaan laajempi kuin koskaan aiemmin, aina kansivihkosta myöten. Bookletiin on tulossa myös kaikkien tarinassa esiintyvien päähahmojen kuvat sekä Cryonin päivitetty kartta, joten levy tarjoaa visuaalista sisältöä jopa aiempaakin enemmän! Kansitaiteen tekee yksi Suomen kovimmista kansainvälisistä nimistä, ToxicAngel . Jo pelkän kansi-idean ja ToxicAngelin tyylin perusteella kannesta tulee varmasti järjettömän tyylikäs!

Celesty has signed a new world wide record deal with legendary Finnish label, Spinefarm Records.
Lately Celesty has composed new songs to their upcoming album and band will head to the studio this summer!!! The new album’s release is scheduled for autumn 2008.

Celesty kirjoitti uuden levytyssopimuksen legendaarisen Spinefarm Recordsin kanssa.
Viime ajat Celesty on säveltänyt uusia biisejä tulevalle albumilleen ja ampaisee studioon vielä tänä kesänä. Uusi albumi olisi tarkoitus julkaista syksyllä 2008.
